About

I am a senior lecturer at MGSM (Macquarie Graduate School of Management) at Macquarie University, Sydney. I am also a consultant for United Nations Volunteers and take a leading part in writing some chapters of the State of the World Volunteerism. I am also a member of the Volunteering Research Agenda Advisory Group (led by Volunteering Australia).

For the last three years I have been the NAB research fellow in the Centre for Social Impact, UNSW, Australia (CSI). In this position I have conducted research on the third sector, philanthropy, and volunteerism.

I gained my MA in the management of non-profit organisations from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. My PhD dissertation focused on organisational socialisation of volunteers. I spent a year as post-doctoral fellow in Penn University the United States, with Prof. Ram Cnaan, an expert on volunteerism.

My main areas of interest are management of NFPs and volunteering, and I have published widely on different aspects of volunteerism, including articles on student volunteering, youth volunteering, elderly volunteering, social policy on volunteering, and the impact of volunteering. Such articles were published in the Journal for Social Policy, Voluntas, Human Relations, Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour and others. I have also submitted a brief
